WEST ORANGE 2000
REPORT FROM WELCOME TO WEST ORANGE COMMITTEE

The Welcome to West Orange Committee, chaired by Joyce Moore and Sal Anderton, is very excited about its involvement in West Orange 2000. Its goal is to welcome and assimilate residents into West Orange, a role that will continue well into the 21st Century. The committee is examining how new residents are welcomed to West Orange. Everything from annual picnics to bus and train schedules, packages of useful information and tours of the Township are being explored. "It is important to intergrate newcomers into our Township's daily life, be it seniors, youth or of a particular ethnic or cultural group," said chair Joyce Moore. "We want to make new residents feel a part of a vibrant and friendly community," added Sal Anderton, Vice Chair.

To achieve this end, the committee is divided into three sub-committees: Research, The Newcomers Club and West Orange's version of a "Welcome Wagon". The Subcommittee on Research is chaired by Doris Passner and Sheila Otner. The New -comers Club is chaired by Catherine Adsit and Elayne Lite and , West Orange's version of the "Welcome Wagon" is chaired by Joanne Carlucci and Sue Jaffe.

It is the hope of the Welcome to West Orange Committee that all residents will be part of the effort to welcome new residents. We will need the entire West Orange community to continue this effort into the 21th Century. If you feel good about our community and wish to show that excitement to new residents of West Orange, this committee is for you. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct 22, 1997 at the West Orange High School at 7:00 P.M. To get involved with welcome to West Orange, please contact Sal Anderton at (973) 243-1056.
